Review of Childhood memory
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (3.5)
"Childhood memory" reminds us of what happened in the good old days; the many things that make us understand and make us realize that the memories of years past are what we are today and what we become in the future. We learn from our past as we move on with hopes and with the understanding that our tomorrow is solid, guided by the many memories of "yesteryear".

Review of God's Got This!
Review by elephantsealer

Rated: E | (3.5)
Yes, indeed!!! "God's Got This" and not only this but also that, then, and what... All one needs to do is believe; believe that God is there, is always there with you, with us, with any one of us. We sometimes forget; or we get much, much too busy to bring our sorrows, our loads, our angers, our problems to the God who is our comfort, our life, our hope in every little thing that happens or may happen to us.

Such great words to remember: "God's got" whatever there is within us, among us and for us. God is there for us; for the many things that we do, God is with us; and we will get through whatever hardship there is because God is God, our life.

"How do you move on?" is a short piece of writing that deals with one's ability to "move on" after a person experiences tragedy; such as the passing of a loved one; how to be able to continue living after an experience of tragedy; how to "snap back into reality" when one's wife/husband passes on?; how to "move on if you're still stuck in a time freeze of crying" because you have been deserted by your loved one?

It is indeed a tragedy to experience any of the above situations, and finding a way to get out of such experiences is truly difficult. However, learning to cope is indeed one of the things we, as individuals, do go through in life. We somehow find a way to look into our hearts and find a way to cope, to understand and to get help from those who are able to give us the strength of mind and spirit to be able to cope.

The "Value of Friendship" make us realize that we are not alone in this world, even if we are totally without someone to care and love us. The world is with us and in us and every where we are at; we are fortunate to be in a human world, where we are able to find friends or even people unknown to us become friendly with us. Humanity brings to us the learned value of connecting with others; of understanding the human value of being one another; of connections that become a part and parcel of our growing up and learning the value of having someone who would be part and parcel of our lives. Friendship is wisdom, followed by a connection with another who would be a part of our life.

"Dream and challenge" make us realize that it is indeed a most amazing way to feel the grand and satisfactory success that happens when we persevere with strength to follow our ideas and grand hopes. It is all right to stop and try to learn and make attempts to work for something we really and passionately desire. Dreams are strong desires to find a way to succeed at something that seems too high to be achieved. However, if there is strength in decisions, then the result would become a successful way to earn the approval of not only relations but also perhaps the world as well.

Review of The Great Unknown
Review by elephantsealer

Rated: E | (3.5)
"The Great Unknown" reminds us that "we are to be the masters of the universe"; a short tale of how to "teach the next generation one immutable resouce: respect." It is a short thought and decision to "first master ourselves" before "we must teach the next generation one immutable rsesource: respect."

This short piece lets us realize that if we are to become "masters of the universe", "we must first master ourselves" in order for us to "teach the next generation one immutable resource: respect."

"Respect" as per this short piece "has ended more conflicts than love or any other emotion." It is a short tale of realizing that "respect has ended more conflicts than love, or any other emotion."

Indeed, a short tale of knowing how to use reason in order to be able to create respect. This is indeed a great call for "reason" to deal with others.

Review of Lost in Wales
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (3.5)
"Lost in Wales" is a short narrative of a joke. A husband invites his wife to go to Wales with him, to deliver a parcel. And guess what? The pair met a "joker" who led them to the wrong path. A fun way a joker made upon a husband and wife as they tried to deliver a parcel in North Wales.

This is a short tale about one person turned a joke on a husband/wife team who were to deliver a parcel in Wales. It is a fun game, all right; as well as a joke make on the two people who tried to deliver the parcel.

We read stories likes this; and sometimes it is fun. However, the fun obviously is not "fun" to the two people who tried to do a job. It is sometimes a "bad joke" that was done for the sake of laughs and jokes.

Review of The Gift WC 226
Review by elephantsealer

"The Gift WC 226" gives us a good idea of how to appreciate "little gifts" made by our children. We do not question it; instead we keep it and show appreciation for the "gift". It is a wise mother who learns to appreciate little gifts from her children. This little tidbit of a gift from a child to his mother is a truly good and kind example how mothers should react when accepting a "gift" (?) from a child. What matters is the thought...

Review of Who is Happy ??
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: ASR | (3.5)
"Who is Happy??" is a very good example of how we, as humans, feel about ourselves. Per this short piece of work, even the "most beautiful and happy bird", the peacock, make us understand that happiness is not based on things that we see; that happiness is something one feels within oneself; something that one feels because one is truly satisfied with one's self. Beauty, as some say, is something we see and think as important; that beauty is much more something else; that beauty is much more than colors; that real beauty is something we see but never actually acknowledge within ourselves.

However, in reading this short message, we realize that happiness does not only depend on any thing that is beautiful; that happiness comes from within ourselves because we have kindness and purity in our hearts.

Review of Late Dinner
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (3.5)
"Late Dinner" is a little funny episode of a "leaping cat" as it slid toward a woman and her cup of tea, a "tipping" chair "on its back", and a cat crashing to the floor, taking with it a cup of tea... And this is just before dinner... It is a funny, little episode that kept dinner to be late.

It is an episode that brings a smile as I read. And at it happened at the time the husband came home, expecting dinner. Funny and something to smile about. It is a nice little episode that tells us that the author is very good at writing "flash fiction".

It is an admirable, short tale that makes us realize that there are writers who are quite good at writing short episodes of tales. I believe it is an admirable practice that an author can write something short that gives readers a chance to smile.

Review of Not Even Death
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: 13+ | (3.5)
"Not Even Death" is short and to the point; a revelation of a past that was ugly and a memory of "ugly wounds" that brought "ethereal light, faint and pale". It is a revelation of "ugly wounds" from the past.

When memory breaks down and bring old hurts to the fore, there is a tendency to feel fear; to remember "ugly wounds", and to try to "scream" a way out of the haunting and broken remembrance.

Short and to the point; although it did bring to the fore the memory of "ugly wounds".

Remembering becomes an ugly thing of the past; and when a memory is of a past and ugly thing of the past, there is a tendency to write it off, as in the past.

This is a short narrative of death; of the end of "ethereal light" as well as the beginning of remembering of a past hurt. There is a tendency to try to forget; however, the memmory is such a hurting past, that the tendency is to try and try harder to forget.

"I Walk" is a short "spiritual" confirmation in one's belief in Jesus. The author's strong belief in Jesus Christ tells of walking "with Jesus" and in believing that "Jesus" is the protector from "harm and danger" as well as finding "peace to my soul"; and that Jesus means "I will not stumble" in life. It is an outright belief in Jesus.

In many ways, the author confirms a solid belief in Jesus Christ; as well as a trust in Jesus Christ as a protector "from harm and danger", and a confirmation that Jesus is "the light" in "my way".

There is trust and a strong belief in Jesus in this short "walk"; and in believing that Jesus is "the light" in the author's way.

Review of THE ACCEPTENCE
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (3.5)
"The Acceptance" tells us about the "full of emotions", such as "joy" and "pain". This is a short narrative of what life is as per the author; that there is forgiveness; that there are "situations" where doing good or doing bad things are a necessary part of life; that we "have to accept the fact that, the person we love is not here just to love but he is the one who can make us more stronger by hurting us."

I would like to mention a few errors, though, such as: a comma should have been placed between the word, "basis" and "we"; between "hunger" and "we"; between "anger" and "we"; a comma between "sadness" and "we"; and a comma beween "people" and "sometimes"; all on the first sentence. The word, "ourself" should be "ourselves" on line 7; on line 8,the word "heart" should be "hearts"; also on line 8, "more stronger" should be "more strong".

These are little things that need to be corrected for the sake of good writing. The author has written something that may become a reminder to us all that we need to be more aware of what we are writing, especially if we are to submit it to a publication.

Review of Any Longer
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (3.5)
"Any Longer" is brief and to the point: there was the passing of a loved one; and the memory of the one who is left behind. Death is something we face; a part of life that we try to understand. And yet, it is something that we do not understand, at all. When we are left to realize that we are left to walk alone, without the one that we love so preciously; we question "why"? We learn, somehow, to look at the reality of death.

And still we are bewildered.

In the finality of a life, we are left to ask questions that have no answers. We live on - on the edge of pain; on the edge of life. We try to understand. Still the reality of it all is: death is with us...

Review of God Is Still Here
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (3.5)
As I read "God Is Still Here", I realize that the author must be one of millions of people on earth who believes in God; and I really admire the author for frankly telling us that he is one of those millions of people who believes in God.

As human as we are, and even as we look at the humanness of us, people, we come to realize that our belief in the godness, goodness and greatness of a God would actually make a difference when it comes to the steadfastness of our belief in a God. Yes, we do make mistakes; yes, we do fail as well in doing that which is right and good; however, we have that great belief that there is this God, our God, all the people's God, who will make things right, and make people remember that God is God and all we need to do is BELIEVE; BELIEVE in God's love to and for us because we are children of God.

Review of Hoarding
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (3.5)
"Hoarding" seems to be the first in people's mind before a big storm. People practically abandon reason and thoughtfulness when anything out of the ordinary happens: a big storm, earthquake, flooding, even a small thing as a day-long rainfall. People have learned to buy practically every thing when and if something like a big storm occurs. Why do people "hoard"?

People have learned to buy almost anything when faced with a big storm, a fire storm, or anything at all that would give people reason to "hoard". Why? Does that mean that what we use every day is not enough to keep us fed or clothed or safe when something like a big storm occurs? It is madness.

Bully for the writer of "A Peanut Butter Life", and for sticking to peanut butter, no matter how it was presented, whether in salad dressing, in a "hot fudge sundae, on celery sticks and even peanut butter with fruit. What's wrong with peanut butter anyhow? I believe, like the writer, that peanut butter is fantastic, even on its own!!!!!

After I read and reviewed, "A Father's Day Confession", I must say I do agree with what the "father" did and say to his children after the dinner. It seems the children were just plain insulting and what the father did was just what the children need, to show how ungrateful they all were; and to do that on Father's Day!!!!!

There is always a piece of writing that really wakes one up!!!!!!!

Review of Anna's magic
Review by elephantsealer

What a pity for Anna, to love to do magic, and to give up something that would have made her to become a proper entertainer.

Although Anna's magic made her brother "sick", it was such a pity her ambition was shot down, and terrified her, when her brother appeared "looking sick", after she uttered "some magic words". It was such a tragedy for a young girl whose ambition was to be a great entertainer. But then, it is magic, yes????????

Review of The Crash
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: 13+ | (3.5)
"The Crash" is short and to the point. It is one way to write if a writer finds the loss of an idea, a thought, a dream at the moment of writing; short works are just as good as any that is long and wandering. It is something that writers do aspire to do, make it short but make it believable and to the point.

There are writers who are able to make short a long-winded tale; and there are writers who are determined to write long tales. Whatever their reasons, writers are conscious what they are writing about; how long they would do a piece, and/or how to write it short.

The tale of "Lily" as portrayed in "Beneath the Shadows" lifted my heart with hope. If "Lily" can change and become an inspiration to many, why shouldn't any person who finds herself/himself dwelling in self-pity become a new person? "Depression", the sickness that apparently took hold of "Lily" turned "her" into the town's hope: that "depression" can be a "sickness" that can turn a person into an inspiration if and when it is dealt with inspiration. It is such an inspiration when one's battle out of depression can turn a whole town of people to feel the "power of compassion and the resilience of the human spirit".

Stories of and about "Lilies" are such an inspiration; a power that sends people to understand and become the inspiration that makes a town to feel "the power of compassion and the resillience of the human spirit."

And so, as per the final words of this story, "Lily's story intertwined with the lives of many, a testament to the power of compassion and the resilience of the human spirit."

Review of Cellar Dark
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: 13+ | (4.5)
When I finished reading, "Cellar Dark", I realized I was trying to understand the fear that arises when one opens a cellar door and nothing but darkness is viewed. People have different experiences when it comes to cellar and cellar doors. Then, somehow, it becomes obvious that there is a "boy" behind that cellar door, in this cellar.

"Fear", "paralyzing fear", becomes the emotion that faced "Jack" as he opened the cellar door. It gave "Jack" the realisation that there is another face, that of a "Jack" as he became numbed and aware that the other Jack has no place in the same world of Jack's. However, the other Jack "grinned pure evil" as he "Winked goodbye."

In the world of humankind, we tolerate the many inconsistencies that occur; and in the end we realize that our own world is as much an evil world as that of another human.

Review of Nurse not there
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (3.5)
The short tale of "Nurse not there" tells of one who was hospitalized for a broken leg, and was required to stay overnight. Awakened at about "2 am a nurse comes into my room and ask if I needed to use the bathroom." It became obvious the nurse was male, whose name was "John Walmore". Awakened in the morning on his way out of the hospital, the patient revealed to the "female nurse" about "John Walmore", who attended him when he needed the bathroom. It turns out, though, there was never a male nurse in the hospital with the name, "John Walmore". As per the author, the tale about the male nurse is true.

I do believe the patient did have a male nurse attend to his needs in the night. However, it may also be a dream the patient had as he slept through whatever "medicine" was given to him to help him sleep through the night. Possible, perhaps?

Review of Publication
Review by elephantsealer

Rated: E | (4.5)
I truly admire the author who wrote "Publication" because his prime reason for writing is to "organise my ideas, to record my mundane activities and musings, to please myself, and to practice writing itself."

This author knows and feels that "unpublished works are wasted works bothers me often;" and I totally agree with his thoughts and truly agree that writing is one's own; and "puiblish whatever of that I feel is worthy of publication."

Writing is the product of a person's thoughts and an expression of a person's purpose to create, no matter how mundane the written works are. I totally agree with this way of thinking with regard to writing; and I most certainly agree that one's writing is one's own way of creating something that most pleases the writer herself/himself.

After reading, "Why animals don't talk to humans anymore", I think one answer maybe: because humans have learned to be kind, loving, respectful, and intelligent. Humans have learned to care, to understand the many intricacies of living; humans have learned to be brave; humans have learned to be aware of the many little things that occur, physically or spiritually, and so humans have learned to be more reasonable. These are merely some of the small things that I can say that made a difference between humans and animals; although nothing in this little piece of writing has mentioned "animals" at all; although the title does mention "animals"...
