30 Day Blogging Challenge

Good morning campers! Today I'd like to challenge you to find a camping-related quote and tell us what it means to you, either in life or in regards to this strange and wonderful journey we've been on so far this month. Feel free to use one of these examples, or find one of your own to talk about.

I decided to just one of your examples (I love Goodreads, by the way). I decided on a quote from a book I read and thoroughly enjoyed: Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail.

β€œEach evening, I ached for the shelter of my tent, for the smallest sense that something was shielding me from the entire rest of the world, keeping me safe not from danger, but from vastness itself. I loved the dim, clammy dark of my tent, the cozy familiarity of the way I arranged my few belongings all around me each night.”
― Cheryl Strayed, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail

Cheryl Strayed was trying to find and mend her broken self. She put herself out into the vastness of the Rockie Mountains and each night she enjoyed that comfort of a small space of her own. As with all of us, whether we are camping or just facing the challenges of day to day living, we all enjoy the comfort and peace of coming 'home' to our place. Our place that has our treasured things. In all the things we have, I am sure there are not so many we treasure and many we could do without. Strayed carried these with her, they we important to her. Treasuring the important, whether it be a warm bed at night cozied up to your spouse or a dry sleeping bag; we come into a place of giving gratitude to the little things. Resting into the night and giving thanks for having another day on earth to do our thing. One just hopes that the thing we do helps us find our way and find who we are as well.

I thank you for this experience Fivesixer and Lyn's a sly fox . I thank and appreciate each and every one of you who came on this journey in the imaginative wilds of Maine. We each bring a flavour of life with us that spices the pot of our adventure. This is true both here in the cyber world of Writing.com and also out in the real world. Using my voice in my writing is my 'thing' and I love opportunities like blogging to grow and develop. It lets me sprinkle my flavoured spices out into the world instead of keeping them bottled up for myself - getting stale and old on the shelf.

Let's mix is up ladies and gentlemen.... we are not done yet!

Blog City – Day 176

Prompt: Have you ever heard a news item or fun factoid that you thought couldn't possibly be true. For example: "No black actress has been nominated for a Leading Actress in a Drama Series Primetime Emmy in 18 years. That's nearly two decades" I thought to myself, this cannot be true. Blog about any or all of this.

See now this prompt stymies me.... where am I supposed to go with this. I may need a break to shift gears after writing the last blog to get into this place. I may also need to see what other people have to say about it.

I took a walk and got to thinking about this...leading black actress in a Drama Series... not in eighteen years. That is not to stay their has not been anyone... just no one has been recognized.

Border for my personal use.

Welcome To My Reality – Thirty – Six

1. There are lots of groups on this site, for all sorts of reasons. Tell us about one group that has helped you, and how it has done that.

Where do I start.... I started out being linked with the Newbies and that helped me get a better sense of the site and get to know some people. The Paper Doll Gang stepped up to help me and invited me in... I was only to happy to join. Their upbeat, go for it nature resonated with me. I got involved by taking the introductory workshops that not only provided information but let me get to know more people.

Since then, I have continued with the group, but also find I do things with people who are also or have been part of that group - newbies and alumni. I have branched out with confidence because I have made connections to others - Rhonda got me interested in trying out blogging in her groups Welcome To My Reality, she has also started a little where we work through the book Immediate Fiction - to learn and grow as writers. πŸŒ‘ Darleen - QoD got me writing more dark poetry with her Dark Dreamscapes and that lead to being part of the Game of Thrones - Dark Dreamscapes team that came in third place.

I have branched out and continue to meet many wonderful people - Blog City and the 30 Day Blogging Challenge are always a joy but I know with the PDG I have a safe place to call 'home' here at Writing.com and I am proud to call myself a Paper Doll and I am proud to be part of the amazing Paper Dolls, Dawgs and Dragons Gang.
