I like to know things. When I see a topic I know nothing about, I research and learn about it. In a piece I just reviewed one line puzzled me."Photos hung over his head like the sword of Damocles." The sword of what?

The reference is to a Cicero parable appearing in a book he wrote in 45 B.C. The story was presented on the History Channel in 2016. The term describes a looming danger. Now the sentence made sense. Some indiscreet photos were taken and used for blackmailing the protagonist.
