About This Newsletter

Noticing Newbies Newsletter is geared to help new members get acquainted with Writing.com -- there is so much do and all the features can be overwhelming! Our goal is to help new members make their time here more fun and manageable. Each week we will showcase new authors items (poetry, short story, polls, etc.). Exposure for each member's writing will help bring more rates and reviews for their work, and by bringing more member interaction to the member, that will give them the opportunity to build friendships with other members, as long as they reciprocate reviews and conversation -- remember, it is a two way street.

"There's someone that you haven't already met, go introduce yourself to him or her. Walls and labels can't keep you from the people who are so similar to you in spirit. There's a friendly face behind every door if you pick the right moment to knock. Once you start your wave of creative outreach, it turns into a contagious force. People are waking up and smiling at each other, sharing their dreams without hesitation. This community is worth something."

Hi Newbies! *Delight*

When people are visiting your portfolio (port), the first thing they come to is your bioblock (bio). It is the heart of your port, the welcome pad; you don't want it to be blank, how boring! So, spice it up!

Instructions Help Topic: Set up your BioBlock (by Writing.com)

Your BioBlock is the welcome mat that you lay out for the visitors to your portfolio. Welcome your readers with a brief introduction about yourself, your writing or what makes you tick!

How Do I?:
Click "My Account".
Choose "Change Account Text & Special Items".
Read the details and rules regarding your BioBlock.
Fill in your information.
Click "Submit Changes".

If you'd like to check for mistakes and preview what your visitors will see, go back to "My Account" and click on "Your Public URL."
(This information is found at the top of the screen in "Getting Started: Table of Contents)

Nice editorial Laurencia. Even just reading it inspired a new dedication (not that it was lacking - just a deeper level). Thanks!

We all need a little boost every now and then. *Wink*

Hi Laurencia,
Greetings to you too. I passed my Christmas till
New year in bed with flu. I wasn't alone though
I kept myself company with the writing.com site!
Thanks for your interesting NL and suggestions for organizing the writing. Will bear them in mind. I always read the newbies stories illustrated in the NLS nd also on the left side
of the writing.com site.

See you in February! Anto

I'm happy you enjoyed the newsletter. And thank you for your support. *Smile*

Hi, Laurencia! I just wanted to say that I always write in a notebook first (the paper kind of notebook, not laptop!). I have a ton of them. Sometimes they are on sale 5 for a $1.00 and believe me, I take advantage! Then, of course, I save it on my hard drive and also here in my port. Most of my work is also saved on a disk. And what I have sent out in manuscript form is also filed. I was very happy to read that you write everything down in a notebook first! Thanks for sharing a great newsletter!

Hello Cubby! *Smile*
We sound like twins, lol. I save my work on harddrive and disk also. I definitely think better on paper. I find that staring at a computer screen too long, I get really tired. Thank you for telling us your organizational routine.
