vespers, 61 degrees. 68 in San José, Costa Rica.

Beta is affecting most of Central America. Even Costa Rica is facing a stormy night. Although it rains most every day during the rainy season (el invierno) it usually isn't much on any one day. It's more like a 15 minute deluge at the beginning in April or May becoming more persistent later. By October (a most miserable month) it is unpredictable. In November it is spotty. Then there comes a day when it just stops and one rarely sees a drop (el verano). December, January, February, March are almost bone dry in the highlands.

If they get more than 70 cm. per day for a couple days they could have severe floods.

Here, wonderful. Went to the bell concert. Ate two persimmons. Tomorrow night I have to remember that "Bats in the Belfry" is at 7 pm!

late afternoon, 67 degrees. 62 in Peoria, IL.

Car could be gased up to go to Peoria if things continue to be stressful. Or Arkansas, or North Dakota or ... somewhere other than here. Battery is charged, car started, yeah!

Jason Stark died this morning. Police gathered as if it were a crime scene. The truth was he wasn't well and was on severe medications. He didn't look good the last couple days. He had been in Dodge City for a while. Well, about three days ago he got the hell out of Dodge, came here and died in River City.

OVERHEARD

"Russian roulette with a fully loaded chamber." Hub re safety in the community.
"I can't walk and talk at the same time. Let's go. It's the only way to shut me up." A paraphrase of what Aaron said.

SENSED YESTERDAY:

Shimmering sequins on a black scarf; black and gold Tiger fans; a stiff southern wind; a young vendor hawking goods; the roar of the crowd, the "silence"; sweaters and bare skin; 2 boys tumbling; a black and white ball spiraling; bare feet and sneakers.
