vespers, 56 degrees.

Wrote a silly play on words thinking of my sister Diane. I can hear my dad's voice calling her "Pump kin.

after the game, 59 joyful degrees. 53 and weeping in Lincoln, NE.

Kansas 40, Nebraska 15. 'Nuff said. There are writer's at WDC whose parents weren't born yet the last time KU won in '68.

The goal posts went for a swim like last week. The difference? I had a camera this time!

Ate a persimmon in celebration.

1/2 hour before game time, 59 degrees. 51 in Lincoln, NE.

Soon, Amy and I will part the Red Sea and go to the game. The cheap seats await us.

Good news last night. Nobody died.

OVERHEARD

Dennis: "I'll be post apocalypsic, rolling around like a roach."
With the appropriate gesture, Delaney Firns: "I nose what yer talkin about."

SENSED YESTERDAY AT THE FUNERAL:

Soft warm grass; rough bark; feathery larch needles; fragrant stock, rose and lily; three colored leaves; hole bored to receive the ashes in the urns; Amazing Grace; a smiling picture of a teenaged Jason; his mother's wit.
