Nightmare in my closet

I cloak myself with bittersweet
chocolate from the finest shops
of horrors that will not sleep till death
watch beetles formed from cocoa
butter, sugar, hints of hazel
nuts will creep, invisible
to friends I do not share

MORNING THOUGHTS:

There are people I feel connected with for no reason apparent to me or anyone else. I cannot logically or rationally defend myself when others question why. Some affairs of the heart remain hidden from the mind.

4 years ago I decided to follow my heart (my mind went on vacation). I decided unilaterally that someone was my friend. Today, I heard an echoed melody of that consistent assertion, that patience, that forebearance. I savor one small triumph and join in harmony.
