Orange River
"Orange River

3rd day into the 21-day challenge. This is getting tough for me---the prompts are not posted till around midnight---after I'm asleep---and then our poems must be posted by 10:00 pm of that day. I'm trying to at least get the prompt before I go off to work---so it can at least percolate in my subconcious during the day---and then I just have what ever time left in the evening to pull a poem together.

I was considering writing this in the form of a GrossBlank form---12 lines with 12 syllables in each line---a poor man's sonnet---but just couldn't get it to fit.

Sometimes, though when you are really pressed to create the mind plumbs depths you didn't know existed.

I sent off 5 poems yesterday to Rattle magazine for their upcoming issue of poetry by nurses. I haven't been submitting anything lately and need to become more diligent about this. I also sent off a piece of flash fiction to a Lilith anthology,
we'll see .....also working on a short story for the short shots competition here on WDC.

My son and his family have ben living along the Orange River in a rented stilt house while their home is still under renovation from the fire.

I love the Gulf of Mexico, but this small, meandering river is simply enchanting. I could be quite happy waking up daily on its banks.
