Love is precious, but it's also difficult, and it has it moments of insanity. |
He was a stranger when a mystery birthday party swept me into his arms. The Day I Met My Future Husband Wednesday quite late, I looked in the post Half an invite sat in the mailman's slot. Oh! I cried out. What fun this will be! Yet, Scratching my head, I developed a frown. Easy to see the big birthday cake, but . . . Pared in two by the scurry of mailing, Aghast, I searched, but no name could be found. Round and round my thoughts all were flying To ascertain who this person could be, Yet, all I could find was the fancy dress notice. I giggled at first, then fretted and worried. Should I go to the party not knowing the host? I will, I decided, and I purchased a present To give to this person, the one still unnamed. I dressed up fine, wrapped a big box of candy, Wheeled myself down to the address on top And knocked on the door to resolve this odd mystery. No one I knew was this man with the birthday, but Thank you, he said with a huge grin for my gift. Then he asked me to dance in his party-clad room. Oh, how we laughed at the wonderful mishap. Knowing this stranger no longer mattered, Now I was there, dancing in his arms. Oceans of punch and cupcakes with sprinkles. What a party it was; I'm so glad that I went. (25 lines) |
