Thinking about Christmas

I'm thinking about Christmas tonight
remembering the multicolored lights
which decorated my Grandparent's Christmas Tree.

I'm thinking about writing a Christmas poem:
I'm a Christmas Eve baby you see
born a few minutes before midnight on
the day before Christmas
and this year I will turn sixty-three.

I'm thinking about Christmas tonight,
thinking about writing a Christmas poem
from Mary's point of view
and wondering how she felt
to give birth in a stable
and lay her first born in a manger.
