Lawrence for a day.
18 light-snowy degrees in Lawrence at midnight. Carol picked me up at the hotel and took me to the coffeehouses. Saw about 15 people I know.

I get to sleep in a very nice bed for $50 tonight... alone...

¡Pues... así la vida!

Tell me why I'm traveling in winter. I already know it's insane.

Writing? What's that?

At least I'm keeping my journal, writing 'letters', taking notes. Sometimes that must be enough.

I'll be in Lawrence for only a day and then in Des Moines for a day. Then home.
