Letter from Jumbo

Dear Gare,

I swear I can see Idaho under streams of clouds that leave it to rise over the Bitterroots, adding new layers of clean white on distant peaks. Lolo is glistening. And I am listening for signs of new life. The withered grass whispers softly, "it's not yet spring".

Still, elk have gone north and this river that flows through us is thristy under snowless skies, drowned out by noisy tires, these roads that sing out songs of our love of open highway, choke us with fumes.

Sun dapples the south side of quiescent North Hills, but I sit in cloud-shadow. Here up on Mt. Jumbo one can imagine elephants, lions and bears escaping Idaho, riding the back of the winds.

Mount Jumbo,
brown potato, elephant's back,
ready for Spring.

*Note3* Sketching it out:

1. I was sitting on Mt. Jumbo. 2. There were clouds. 3. One knows that Idaho is on the other side of the Bitterroot peaks from whence the clouds came. 4. Spring is expectant.

Simple? Meh...

*Note3* Thou:

I'm thrilled to be getting any comments at all! Since my internet access has been limited this past month I haven't been reading or commenting as I should. Too much time at FB doesn't help; but, that is going well now and needs less diligence.

*Note3* Me and Mine:

My shadow is long at sunset on my way to John's. It reaches out to Jumbo:

Saturday went to John's party. Nice chat with Luke ("in love with himself") and Courtney (da mama-in-training). *Wink* Molly and John do their MFA thang on May 1st.

I brought crab dip, chocolate pudding (as dip *Smirk*) and Aussie Tim Tams.

Sunday, I walked along the Kim William's ice-patched path past the 3 mile mark, east of Easy Street in East Missoula.

Saw a wodpecker drumming. *Smile* Spring has sprung; buttercups are blooming... not like the gloom of last year.

Earlier went to Multi-cultural Foodfest at the UC. Ate chicken injeri, koeksister, ginger juice, Swedish meatballs, lefse... Saw friends and spoke to folks: Jeremy, Zach, William, Ginny, Tricia, Robin, Dustin, Leo...

*Note3* Miss A. Lou: 52º sunny at 3 pm Montana Standard Time.
