Istiqlál (Independence), 9 Qudrat (Power), 167 BE – Friday, November 12, 2010 about 8:39 AM Pacific Time

At dawn on November 12, 1817 a child was born Tehran. He was born into a noble family, whose home province was Nur. His name was Mirza Husayn-'Ali and his father was a minister of the Shah of Persia. However, Mirza Husayn-'Ali did not go into government service. Known as Baha’u’llah, which means the Glory of God, he was descended from Zoroaster, Persia’s Sasaniyan kings, and Abraham (through Katurah Abraham’s third wife).

Baha’u’llah became a follower of the Bab (The Gate) and was imprisoned in the Black Pit, a dungeon in Tehran. While in the in the Black Pit, his mission was revealed to him. He did not proclaim his mission until 1863 in Bagdad. From Bagdad, Baha’u’llah was eventually exiled to Akka a fortress in Palestine (Israel). He died in May 29, 1892 in Bahji, Palestine.
