Known as Baha’u’llah, which means the Glory of God, he was descended from Zoroaster, Persia’s Sasaniyan kings, and Abraham (through Katurah Abraham’s third wife).
Baha’u’llah became a follower of the Bab (The Gate) and was imprisoned in the Black Pit, a dungeon in Tehran. While in the in the Black Pit, his mission was revealed to him. He did not proclaim his mission until 1863 in Bagdad. From Bagdad, Baha’u’llah was eventually exiled to Akka a fortress in Palestine (Israel). He died in May 29, 1892 in Bahji, Palestine.
