My Birthday, Christmas, and New Year’s Day

My birthday and Christmas have passed, while New Year’s Day is in four days. I feel like I’m floating in a fog. I feel like I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. I’m not precisely sure what the problem is because I’m not depressed. It’s just that I feel like... well I’m not sure what I feel like.

I turned 64 years old on December 24, I still have one year before I can apply for Medicare. I think I can apply for it three months before my 65th birthday. The government will take something from my Social Security check for Medicare; that’s fine with me. I don’t expect Medicare to be free; I just hope there is still Medicare when I’m ready to apply for it. However, that doesn’t explain the way I feel right now.

As I said, I’m not sure how I feel. Maybe part of the issue is Mom’s condition. I made the decision to change her HMO in 2011; I sure it was a good idea because her new doctor has more experience with Alzheimer’s patients. Mom will also have free access to a senior citizens center. In fact, we have a choice of two centers she can attend. I hope Mom will enjoy the centers because we’re going to them as soon as she gets her new card.

I still feel like I’m floating in a fog waiting for the sun to come out. Perhaps it’s all the cloudy days we’ve had in Las Vegas. We haven’t been out of the house since my birthday, perhaps that is part of the problem. We just need to get out of the house for a little while.
