Ostara

The earth lies cool and dark
as far below new life begins.
Above the sky blinks cold and white;
the Snow Queen rules and blankets life.
Yet here amidst the stony blight
gold yellowbells begin to glow.
The Snow Queen stoops to pick a few,
adorns her gown in teardrop hues.
She’ll tarry till the tulips bud
when calls cry out to where she’s roamed,
then scurry off to northern homes,
while here earth grows and blooms anew.
