February 11, 2012 ~ 30-Day Blogging Challenge prompt is Dating ensues. Characters meet the fam or social pals.

“So,” said Red as Lydia poured him a second cup of coffee, “I suppose you have to work Valentines Day?”

“Unfortunately, no,” Lydia smiled at his perplexed look. “Corrine has an... intriguing sense of humor.”

“Oh?”

“She schedules everyone, who is in a relationship to work and those of us who are unattached get the day off.”

“I see,” he takes a sip of his coffee, “would you like to assist me in my investigation?”

“Almost anything is preferable to spending another Valentine’s Day alone.” She smiles wickedly, “I gather your investigation concerns our conversation at the dock yesterday.”

“Yes.”

“Red, would you like to meet Corrine?”

“Yes.”

“Good,” she motioned to someone behind him, “because she and her husband just walked in the front door.”

A tall slender blonde woman accompanies by a dark haired man came up to the counter.

“Something wrong, Lydia,” said Corrine.

“I want you to meet a new customer.”

“Red,” Lydia smiled, “this is Corrine Hasting-Mason and her husband, whom I believe you know.”

“Red,” Corrine frowned and the smiled. “You’re Red Johnson, Jeffry’s partner. Are you still looking for a restaurant to buy?

“If the price is right.”
