I learned something from this entry
March 11, 2012, Sunday, Day 11 ~ 30-Day Blogging Challenge prompt is DISCUSS SOMEONE ELSE'S BLOG ENTRY

I liked Fivesixer ’s response to the March 9, 2012 prompt in "This one's about Indecision: 3/2012.. The reason I liked the response was that it was educational and I like learning something new and now I know how to respond if ”an active shooter” enters any store I am in.

It has been several years since I had the blessing of working with the public. I am my mother’s caregiver. The only time I have the blessing of interacting with the general public is Monday through Friday (holidays not included) from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Now, if I encounter ”an active shooter” in any store I am shopping at, I know how to respond. Since I live in Las Vegas, there is a chance I may encounter one in a grocery store because these “nuts” have been know to enter grocery stores or supermarkets at random intervals over the past ten or twenty years. (All right, we had one in an Albertson’s store; at least I think it was an Albertson’s several years ago).

I like the idea of trying to leave the store, but most supermarkets have only one public entrance, at the front, and I suspect that would be the entrance used by the “shooter”; therefore, I would have to go with take cover somewhere in the store or start throwing thing. Most of the grocery stores I go to have no place to hide, except the toilets and you have to get the keys from the customer service department.

Therefore, the only option I have is to start throwing things. It is not a good idea for me to throw things because I seldom if ever hit what I am aiming at. There are exceptions; sometimes I do hit what I am aiming for, but not often, which is probably why I never went out for women’s sports.

Most supermarkets here have some type of security, all though I have seen those guards carrying weapons. At least not dangerous weapons, they do carry ballpoint or felt tipped pens and walkie-talkies, but those are the most dangerous weapons they carry.
