Day 2 - Thirteen Days of Halloween
Talisman Holds Protection

The girl lay dead upon the ground
Her body, lifeless still held dread.
Upon her face was etched the fear
That stole her life and left her here.

The Magistrate gazed down upon
The sight the devil cast in death
And claimed with all his frightened heart
That the horseman had played his part

"'Tis foolish to believe such trash"
Claimed the stately, prim school teacher,
"Surely fault is bound to be found,
Within the realm of all that's sound."

"Oh, no. He Rides. This Headless man!"
The Magistrate does claim again.
"This mad Horseman is pure evil
He rides us into upheaval!"

With a look of doubt and a shake
The school teacher lifts the necklace
Examines fine work and wonders
"What is this you wear?" he thunders.

"My talisman to hold me safe
When I strike out about this place
The horseman cannot get to me
For I am carefully kept free."

Day 2 – October 20, 2014
Use the following transcript from "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" as inspiration for a short story or poem:

Ichabod Crane: You believe the father killed her?
Samuel Philipse: The Horseman killed her.
Ichabod Crane: How often do I have to tell you? There is no Horseman, never was a Horseman, and never will be a Horseman.
[Pulls a pendant off of The Magistrate's neck]
Ichabod Crane: What is that thing?
Samuel Philipse: It's my talisman. It protects me from the Horseman.
