Spiritual Sunday: August Agenda and In the News
Jamál (Beauty), 1 Kamál (Perfection), 173 BE - Sunday, July 31, 2016 AD

"Unto Thee be praise, O Lord my God! I entreat Thee, by Thy signs that have encompassed the entire creation, and by the light of Thy countenance that hath illuminated all that are in heaven and on earth, and by Thy mercy that hath surpassed all created things, and by Thy grace that hath suffused the whole universe, to rend asunder the veils that shut me out from Thee, that I may hasten unto the Fountain-Head of Thy mighty inspiration, and to the Day-Spring of Thy Revelation and bountiful favors, and may be immersed beneath the ocean of Thy nearness and pleasure.

Thou art the Great Giver, the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Compassionate."
Bahá’u’lláh

August Agenda

What better way to begin today's entry then a prayer for inspiration revealed by Baha'u'llah. August is peeking its head above the monsoonal clouds in Las Vegas. I'm planning on a busy writing and editing month so I'm going to need a lot of inspiration. I'm participating in "Project Write World which begins on August 15. In addition I'm writing contest submissions for "I Write in August-September-October and "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS August Backpacking Europe/Hostels. I will work on stories for "Invalid Item and editing "Scavengers. That's about all I'm planning for August, which doesn't mean something else won't fall out of the sky or crawl out of the septic tank.{/drocap}

In the News:
"Corpse flower blooms at New York Botanical Garden for the first time since 1937"1

In full bloom, the Amorphophallus titanum, the corpse flower releases the scent of rotten meat for 24-36 hours, which is why it's called the corpse flower. A native of Sumatra, this flower can grow up to 12 feet in the wild, but only gets up to 7-10 feet in Botanical Gardens. How often it blooms in the wild is unknown, but it takes a young flower about 10 years to build up enough energy to bloom.2 To see the corpse flower's bloom in person must be a wonderful sight and an interest aromatic experience.
