The Nineteen Day Feast:
The Lord's Supper

It is the first Sunday in August 2016. It is eight days after the Feast of Perfection. There are nineteen feast days in the Badi calendar, that calendar followed by Baha'is across the world when it comes to celebrating holy days, feast days, and days of commemoration. The feast are held every nineteen days because the Baha'i month consists of nineteen days. The first day of the month is designated as the feast day for that month. Each month is named after an attribute of God with each week day being named for a divine attribute. What got me to thinking about the nine day feast was a poem I wrote a few years ago about The Lord's Supper, which for Baha'is is the Nineteen Day feast.

Atoms of air resonate
With the Nightingale's Speech
Intoning Words of revelation

Chanting the Names of God
The Beloved of all worlds
Ascends over Splendor's horizon

The Glory of God
Rises above the mountains of Might
Dispelling the illusions of night

Reflecting from Perfection's Mirror
The Light of Divine Unity
Generates a new creation

Resurrected from the tomb of self
Soul soars of the wings of divine Knowledge
Into the Heaven of God's Will

In the Loftiness of paradise
At the Table of God's Beauty
Spirit consumes the Bread of Life

In the garden of Grandeur
From t he chalice of Mercy
Essence quaffs the wine of immortality

The soul set ablaze with the Power of God
The seeker's Questions are answered
By the pen of Divine revelation

He knows that humanity's Honor
Is neither in physical Sovereignty
Nor material Dominion
