GIJS, my first cat
** Image ID #2099018 Unavailable **

*Right*Do you currently or have you ever owned a cat? Tell us a fun cat story. If you've never lived with a cat, tell us about another pet...and if you've never had a pet, what would be one of the first fun things you'd do with your pet if you ever did adopt one?(BC)

I am a dog owner at the moment, but I have had cats in the past. My first cat was a male dark gray shorthaired Russian dude called GIJS (pronounced GICE). He was adorable. He died eleven years old and I was devastated because of it. My cat prince was not very agreeable to others, though, since he suffered from trauma in his early years so the story goes when I got him.

One day, my boyfriend and I decided to eat on the sofa in front of the television set, the doorbell rang and we both went to attend to the door. When we came back my 150-gram steak was missing and Gijs was nowhere to be seen. My fault really, so we had a laugh and shared the other steak.

We have a Dutch saying: “don’t tie the cat to the bacon.” It means: don’t give anybody the opportunity. I guess we did just that.
