Celebration: Scattering the Darkness
Wednesday, January 4, 2017

It's amazing! Every time I begin to get depressed something comes along to brighten my day and scatter the darkness. I started out the day in a brown study and descending deeper into my normal January darkness. I even blogged about it in "War Chest Wednesday: January a Depressing Month. Right after I finished that entry and posted it, I discovered this challenge. I listed to and song which changed my mood. I'm in a better frame of mind which helps because I have a lot more writing to do today and this week. Songs like Celebration always improve my mood. I think it's because listening to music releases endorphins, or whatever, in my brain which results in uplifting my thoughts and changing my outlook.

Scattering the Darkness

Don't just huddle in the darkness crying
get up and find the light.

Somewhere there's a party going on,
somewhere people are dancing to the music,
laughing and making a joyful noise
in praise of surviving another year
so ...
don't just huddle in the darkness crying
get up and find the light.

Get out of your shell singing
songs of praise and gratitude
proclaiming to the entire planet
the joyful news
that you are still alive,
that you have survived,
that miracles occur
every moment of every day
if you open your eyes to see
and open your lips to praise
the lessons of yesterday,
the miracles of today,
and the successes of tomorrow.
Don't just huddle in the darkness crying
get up and find the light.

Get up and dance
like no one is watching,
sing like you can carry a tune
even if you're tone deaf
because light and music
scatter the darkness and depression
long enough for your spirit
to see the right trail
in the road's fork.
Don't just huddle in the darkness crying
get up and find the light.
