Midweek Reflections on Poetry
Wednesday, February 1, 2017

The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise prompt for Day 1058
"Poetry creates the myth, the prose writer draws it's portraits." Jean Paul Sarte What are your thoughts on this?

Poetry

My soul whispers to my mind,
its echoes descending from above
like sunshine
on a late winter morning melts
the snow on Mount Charleston.1

As the sun rises in the east,
cresting Sunrise Mountain's peak2,
I wake to inhale the warmth
of a "bright sunshiny day"
and listen to the poetic myths
reverberating through my mind.

I read Sarte's quote,
I realize poetry can't be defined
except by the poet
or the audience
and that each
has a different
personal definition.
