War Chest Wednesday: Colonizing Other Planets
Wednesday, March 1, 2017

"Know thou that every fixed star hath its own planets, and every planet its own creatures, whose number no man can compute."

Is trying to colonize other planets for human settlement a good or bad idea and why? If it's good, what steps would you see having to take to go into something so big? If bad, what should we do with space programs besides replacing satellites every few years?

Is trying to colonize other planets for human settlement a good or bad idea and why? The answer ti this question is both yes and no. Yes, if the planet chosen to colonize doesn't already have sentient or soul possessing creatures. No, if the planet already has sentient creatures. The indication of sentient creatures would be cities, farming and probably war. Unfortunately, war seems to be an indication of an immature sentient race.1

What steps should be taken to colonize a planet? First, determine if the planet has only lower animals or sentient creatures2 Second, once it's determined that the planet can be colonized then begin the planning. At this point in Earth's history, the biggest roadblock to colonizing other planets is dealing with the different national governments because most of them focus on their own interest rather then the welfare of the entire human race.

Footnotes
1  I'm presuming immature races act the same as we do when it comes to fighting.
2  My definition of sentient creatures are those that possess a soul.
