Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "Your (or your character) overhear someone making a confession. What were they confessing, and to whom?"

Call me a stick in the mud or a wet blanket or whatever cliche you wish to pin on me but I march to a different drumbeat. I would not repeat anything I happened to overhear being confessed because quite honestly I would not want anybody to repeat anything they overheard me confessing. Repeating stuff I happen to hear is not only distasteful but it is simply wrong. God's word calls doing so gossip and uses another very strong word to describe gossip. The word is sin. God sees the sin of gossip as being equal with murder. God is not human and does not differentiate between sin. He doesn't see one sin as being any worse than another. To Him sin is sin. It's all sin and it's all equally as bad. Gossip is sin and I prefer not to engage in it. People try all the time to engage me in their gossip and at times I don't feel up to slamming the door on them so I let them say their piece and tell them politely that I have no response. At other times I will tell them they are gossiping and that I have no desire to join them. At any rate if the roles were reversed and I was the one making a confession that was overheard I would not want what I was saying repeated. How I want others to treat me is my yardstick for how I try to treat others. Therefore I would not and will not engage in gossip either real or fantasized.

Family

No man is an island
We are part of a band
Family on every hand
We must follow God's command.

Family

To say man is a loner
One would have to be deceived
No man fairs well without others
We need the companionship.
