Svalbard (Hourglass)
Clear cold dark. Stars sparkled at Oriole as snow crunched under fur-lined soles. In town he didn't need a rifle. He shuddered at the thought of hungry bears looking for a warm meal with his label on it. It was calm; it was noon. He headed towards the diner drawn by the odor fish and beer. Whale tataki would suit him fine; it tasted like liver. No need to overcook it. He thought about a deep red wine but decided against it. Yes, it dulled his jangled nerves but made him woozy. He had to focus. This place did not suffer unwary fools. Oriole went in, ordered a coffee.
