Montezuma, Costa Rica (Hourglass)
Day 30 (Montezuma, Costa Rica)

Oriole sat in the tide pool, watched the oysters shut when he touched their rough edges, open when safe again. The bay was warm but this water-hewn rock tub was hot. He let the heat soak into him as he dozed to the rhythm of the waves. He rested until the incoming tide warned with salt spray. He felt relaxed as he looked at his puckered feet, savored the taste of salt on his cheek. The cries of gulls and the swoop of pelicans beckoned him to join their feast. He'd try to buy a fish on the way back, fry it up then swing in the hammock, inhale the breath of the sea.
