Decade
PROMPT November 5th

Imagine the year is 2030. Write about what has happened in your life over the last decade in the past tense.

It’s 1930. I never thought I’d still be around to see this year. It’s good that we’re both still in reasonable health. Looking back at the last decade I must say it started off badly. That 2020 had lots to answer for.
Everything seemed crazy then. Viruses, bushfires and out of control politicians. We had it all. Thankfully everyone seemed to calm down after 21 and the vaccine.
The two lovely things that happened in 2021 was the birth of our son’s baby. They had given up ever being able to have kids and then when she was 42 our daughter in law gave us a very late grandchild. The same year my granddaughter had her first child too, our fifth Great grandchild. So blessed.
I managed to get home to the UK in 2025, after the airlines got back to normal. I got to see my brothers. Both of them are in their nineties now. But still going strong.
Sadly we lost our beautiful dog, Lucy only two years ago. She was sixteen and she’d had a happy life.
Here’s hoping that 2030 is the beginning of better things to come.
