My journey through (and beyond) the valley with Cancer as my companion.

Dear Friend:

This is not a Blog about writing! (I already have one of those.)

This is a blog about a journey I am taking with illness. I have recently been diagnosed with Cancer. My goal is honest therapy as I progress through, and beyond this new reality in my life. I hope that, somewhere along the way you will find some words that will help you too.

While this is, in fact, an interactive Blog, I hope that you will scroll slowly down this page. For you see, the front of this Blog IS my journey. The entries are conversations that are held along the journey.Yes, there is a lot on it--before actually getting to the Blog entries. But, I hope that by the objects and words which appear before the Blog itself, you might come to understand just a little bit about me, and my journey, and some truly amazing friends who have agreed to journey with me. I hope that you, too, will choose to accompany me on my walk--through the Valley.

I invite you to join me, and discover the wondrous truths, meet some truly amazing people, and share those "memorable" moments this journey will undoubtedly present. Come along, won't you?

Hello, my friend. What courage you have to share your pain and your doubt with us. You ask if anything you have done in your life matters, "really matters." The answer is YES! Your Advent Adventure I was a part of a few years ago and your messages to us during that journey strengthened my relationship with God and remains strong today. Your personal counsel when my mother died seven years ago lifted me out of the despair of grief. I'm sure that not only me but also many, many others agree that you have planted the seed; you just aren't aware of the fruit. It's there. It matters. YOU matter. And God is watching. And YES, He cares.

In an email to me dated 2/23/11 (yes, I have kept many of your messages to me), you wrote the following as you were facing a medical procedure:

"I've been waiting to be afraid, or scared spitless, or--something. All I feel is peace. Why? Not because I know who the Doctor is, although I trust him implicitly. Not because I have seen, as an RN, the procedure done many times during my nursing career.Dad has given me His peace because I am His kid, and He is crazy, stupid nuts in love with me..."

Remember your own words now and be at peace.
Love you, Budroe. Know that you MATTER and that I Care, and that He cares.

Never ignore your body? Sometimes I do... along with my emotions, intuition, and common sense. I pay for my neglect.

Do hope they figure out what it is. I don't have constant pain. Constant itchiness? Yes, difficulty sleeping until I changed soaps and washing powder... but that's nothing like pain.

Read up about pleurisy... various causes, various solutions. Seems to be a bit tricky in diagnosis and treatment.
