Boy #3 is trying to purchase gratitude hoping you will mistake this emotion for love/like ....hence the volunteering and used tires.
If he was really serious and not looking for the easy road to your heart....he would quit smoking. Of course volunteering even for selfish reasons, is still a good thing.

I didn't know you had traffic up that way. Heck, I didn't know you had cars! Thought everyone traveled by kayak.

Smoker #3 has moved way past the "leaving the phone" ploy, and has now ventured into "leaving the auto accessories" ploy. Bold move!
