DAY 1574: March 8, 2017 Prompt: March 8 is International Women's Day. The theme this year is "Be Bold For Change" https://www.internationalwomensday.com/. Write a story, poem, or something about women or a woman being expressing this theme. Or write your opinion about this theme. I've been wondering, has there ever been a "national men's day"? Sure I get that people who are exceptionally impactful in the world and their personal lives deserve recognition. I mean I just learned that the first woman to become a U.S. Marine blazed the trail for future female Marines and I'm impressed by that accomplishment. I myself endeavored to get into the Marines, but unfortunately was 4Fd because of the multiple times I broke my left arm as a toddler and teenager. I was devastated and ever since I started writing determined to support the troops in any way I can. The theme "Be Bold For Change", lends itself to being applicable to men as well. There are just as many women and men who are passionate and willing to put a huge effort forward, in order to make a needed change or set an example to encourage others to go further. So taking nothing away from the marvelous impact so many women have had on our world, let's remember the men who have changed lives as well. Maybe one day we will have an International Peoples Day and honor those who have taken great strides to improve the lives of others as well as themselves. Be they female or male; let their accolades rain down. You are beloved! Copenator out! |
