Daily?? thoughts from a crazy middle aged foster mom.
Well, how do I begin? I am a fourty six year old mother of 4 boys. My ex-husband and I divorced 8 1/2 years ago and I have since married the TRUE love of my life (one year ago, December 27 2007). My boys are all grown and moved out of the house. My husband and I don't, and can't, have any children of our own, so we have become foster parents to 6 teenage boys. These are random thoughts from our crazy household. Some good and some not as pleasant but necessary none the less.

See Entry :Major Changes from my crazy mind!!! for an update on my life... Lots have changes since I started this BLOG..LOL

Well, my mom and I connected with my son and his family on Father's day. We had planned a trip to Zoo Miami. Well, we got to the zoo and it was raining; rain is normal in South Florida this time of year. However, this rain was not a passing summer shower. No, this rain had settled in for the day. So instead of the zoo, we went to the Science Museum. We had a really good time and I really enjoyed watching my 6 year old granddaughter soaking everything in. I also had fun watching my mom watch her great granddaughter. We all had a great time. Afterwards, we went for Cuban food for a late lunch. My son's dad was Cuban and they don't get much Cuban Food in Austin, Texas. Overall, it was a very nice day. We are all going to my brother's house for dinner and game night on Tuesday evening. That should be a lot of fun.

Also, If anybody has been following my book that is in the works, Adventures at Willow Creek, there have been some changes to Chapters 7 and 8. Let me know what you think.

Well, I'll let you know who wins Game Night Tuesday... Probably mom; she always wins... LOL.

Well, I am excited for this coming week! My oldest son and his family are coming to Miami to visit! They get here on Saturday evening and are staying at an Air B&B here in Kendall, very close to where the apartments where my mom and I live. They have never been to Miami and have a lot of things they are wanting to do. My daughter-in-law loves has a degree in biology and loves animals of all kinds so a trio to Zoo Miami is at the top of the agenda. My mom, who doesn't go places as much anymore, is looking forward to a trip with her grandson and great granddaughter to the zoo. I should also mention that her great granddaughter, Sophie, was born on her birthday. *Delight* I don't know how many of the other outings I will be able to go on because is may be to much for mom. (A day snorkeling in the keys, airboat ride in the everglades, a day at the beach) We will all have dinner/game night one at least one night while they are here at my brother Bill's house. He is a hobby gourmet chef so the food is always AMAZING!!! They won't be down here for very long and one day will be spent with my son trying to connect with his dad and his dad's family. It should be a really nice visit. *BigSmile* *Cool*

Well, as I delve further back into WdC I find more and more treasured gems. Many questions for which I will search for answers and many neat ideas for future projects. I have also read several really wonderful stories and enjoyed writing reviews. As I read some of the stories, the English teacher in me wants to edit as I read, LOL. I will mention in my review to re-read for grammar but would love to help if they want me to. I am just not sure what corner of this site would be the place for that but I shall continue to click, read, and discover new and wonderful things. There is so much here to discover!

Wow how things change and what we think we know about our life can take a different turn in a snap. When I read the intro to this blog from ten years ago I am amazed at how different my life is now. I am no longer married; I have moved back home to South Florida, not because of my divorce, but to care for my 80 year old mother who has Alzehimers. My four sons are all married and have kids of their own, seven total. I still get calls from a few of my former foster boys that still call me mom and I still talk to my ex-husband. We are still good friends but just not married. He still lives in Texas. I am also no longer teaching. I taught school for 20 years and loved it but so many things have changed in the educational system that it takes a lot of the joy out of teaching and replaces it with the stress of state testing and nothing but drill, drill, drill to get the students to spit out what the State wants to hear this year. Anyway, I can't teach and care for mom too and she is my priority. I do some medical data entry part time from home to meet personal expenses. On the positive side, it will give me more time to write. *Cool*
I hope this blog will help chronicle the last years of my mom's life and the beginning of my writing career... We shall see.

Well, it has been a while since I have had time to update my blog. We are STAAR testing this week (State testing for Texas schools) so things have been hectic...
Had to get a "new" car with very little money. Ended up with a '98 Nissan Pathfinder. OK for now. It will become my husband's truck eventually when we can save up enopugh money to get me a good car. It will do for now, but I may have to rob a bank to feed it... lol. Well, I guess this is all for now. Chat later.

Been so busy at work I haven't had time to do much of any writing. However, Spring Break is just around the corner. Out of school for a whole week... starts tomorrow. Hopefully I will get some time to just sit and write and read... We will see. More later.

Well, today we seemed to have a little hiccup for my WDC access at school. I teach middle school and use stories, ideas, info from newsletters, etc... quite a bit in my teaching. So today I get to work and a new firewall and blocking software has been put in place. You guessed it, WDC is now blocked through our school district's internet. I had a fit! I immediately made a few calls to find out who had the authority to unblock the site. When I explained how valuable the site was, it was unblocked. Yea!!! Now I can, once again, wander around the halls of WDC with my students and let them have "real world experiences" to attach their classroom learning to. Thank you WDC!

Well, Happy Valentine's Day everyone. I will be so busy at work and at One Act Play practice today that I won't have much time for anything else. I was given the job of One Act Play director at the last minute when the Theater Arts teacher had a family emergency and had to resign suddenly. I was the director last year when our Theater Arts teacher was transfered to the High School leaving a hole here. I filled in. Well, when this happened they came back to "Old Faithful" again. This time, however, I only had 2 weeks to polish out the play they were working on, and I had never heard of the play either. Boy did we have work to do! Dress rehearsal in tomorrow and competition if Friday and Saturday. We are scheduled to compete on Friday afternoon... Wish me luck!

It was a long weekend. My husband was running a high fever with sweats and chills most of the weekend and yet he HAD to go to work. He would be fine in the morning, but by the afternoon he was so weak and wiped out that I was left to pick up the pieces at home. I would get him in and out of the shower, force him to take some medicine and get him into bed. He would wake up the next morning with the bed and himself soaked from sweating off the fever. He would, of course, feel better and off to work he would go. That evening we would repeat it all over again. Needless to say, journal writing was not on the top of my list of things to do. It therefor was put off until today.
Miguel, one of our boys, shipped out into the Army on Sunday. He will be going to basic training in Fort Bening, Georgia for 14 weeks. He is in the infantry so my worrying is just beginning... He is excited, I am chewing my nails to the quick.
I did write a short story on Friday night. It is up for review. Let me know what you think. Well, chat later.

Well, I had a great time yesterday reading and reviewing others' works. There are really a lot of great stories out there! Anyway, I need to get back to my book sometime today. I did take a little time yesterday to write a short story about a trip to my grandmother's house a very long time ago that suddenly poped into my mind. I have not made it public because I need to do quite a bit of editing on it for grammar and spelling. Yesterday was simple a rough draft. I read it to my mom on the phone last night and she laughed as she remembered when it happened. As I read it out loud I ran across several sentences that were a little awkward so I will have to work on them before making it public. Maybe I can tweak it some today.
I guess I need to get to writing so, check back later. See ya!
