I had no idea about your hearing loss. I hope that it all works out, whatever you decide. I don't normally frequent peoples blogs. So sometimes I feel out of the loop regarding what's going on with other members on WDC. It's easy to forget that we all have our burdens.
Anyhow, I know you will be away until December so, until then, I look forward to seeing you back on WDC.
Wow - that is amazing about the cochlear implant. I didn't realize that you would lose any of you natural hearing. That would be a big decision to make. Congrats on restarting your Ebay business!!! Thats fantastic! And you are correct - it does take skill and talent to really describe and market your items. I can't wait to jump over there and check out your stuff!
Wow. That's quite a story. It must be hard to live like that. The only experience I have with hearing losses is that my father is a hearing-aid dispenser and scientist in Florida. I'm sure that you will have a sound career, for many people are cheering you on.
Good luck!
Your story affected me profoundly. For you see, when I was 42, I was told by an audiologist that I was going deaf. It is now almost 18 years later, and I am totally deaf except for a small amount that I can hear out of my left ear with a big old behind the ear hearing aid.
My doctor tells me that I am a miracle though because I, too, am able to understand words and sentences amazingly well for a deaf person. I continue to work in my job. I am an administrative assistant to the principal in an elementary school. Just recently I had to turn down an amazing job (secretary to the Superintendent of Schools) because I knew deep in my heart that I couldn't keep up at School Board meetings due to my hearing. The job would entail taking minutes for School Board meetings - a lot of legally binding stuff. I knew that I would hear "dog" when they said "log." But I am contented with my job. I love it there so I'm ok.
God has been very good to me. I have a very supportive family and lots of supportive friends.
I have begun to go to college but I dropped out due to working full time and having to do night classes 45 minutes away. At this point, I hope to resume my education in 3 years when I retire from my job. I want an English degree to help enhance my writing and give me some credentials.
You will do it. You will go back and get your degree. Just go ahead and start and decide after you get about 1/2 way through what you want to really major in.
Keep me posted! I would love to know more about how you handle different circumstances of your life. It's not easy being deaf - but we can do it.

My goodness you keep busy!!! It is wonderful that WDC has such amazing, talented and dedicated people on here. It is part of what makes this site so unique and wonderful!
Wow, that really stinks, having to move so many times. It's hard on children. I moved around a lot because I was in the military, but that was before we had kids. Hope you find a place to really settle into.
