Good on you for taking control of your health! Diabetes is no joke.

I noticed you said this feels like your last chance, and I just want to remind you that it's not! There's always another day. If rules and structure work well for you, that's great, just don't be too strict or too hard on yourself when you slip up. That's how people set themselves up for failure; one donut and the diet is ruined so they may as well just go back to eating junk every day. In my mind, the most important things about a "diet" are that it fits in well with your lifestyle, it's flexible, and you don't hate it. Because health is a very looooooooong game. It isn't really about what you ate yesterday, it's about what you ate cumulatively over the last few months / years.

But I wish you good health and happiness in the new year! Good luck!

Oh hon! I totally get it about the year being not the greatest. My kidneys tried to shut down due to a septic infection. I spent the summer with external bags attached to me...talk about sexy! uggh! And I get it about your "puppy" My folks have a 16 1/2 yr old pug..."Jessie Fetcher" (yup, it was a pun when mom named her...lol)

She is so loveable, but is nearly blind and deaf. I think she hangs on because she thinks she is supposed to...I will cry when she goes.

I will pray for you this year, and I will pray you will succeed in revamping your health. I, too, have diabetes, and health issues from that. I'm just got a cold I am battling...yuck.

I wish you a fabulous new year! And good luck on the Unstable(d) Writer's Challenge. I just had a dream, and so I'm going to go with it for my effort in it. May the "Force" (lol) be with us!

Ahhhh. Thanks, Rachel. It's not very different from what I'm guessing then. I had a chat with my father-in-law's friend. He explained to me what a Queen does. I begin to understand her a little better.

Thank you for all your comments. It’s so nice to know we aren’t alone in our feelings, particularly in times like this.

I would definitely say she was more loved than any of our politicians. I always felt like I could trust her to do the right thing and to be honest. I don’t know many politicians I can say that about. I only hope King Charles lives up to his mother’s standards. I have to say, unlike a lot of people, I think he’s probably a good guy. His speech last night brought a lump to my throat. I don’t know how he managed to keep his composure just one day after losing his mother. I couldn’t have.

The job of the monarch, Elycia Lee ☮, is so much more than just being the head of the British Government. They work with hundreds of charities, visiting 5em, promoting them. I think that is probably the key part of the role. And I don’t think they get too much time off from their work, either. I know a lot of people complain about how entitled they are (my hubby being one of those people), but I think they pay a huge price for that privilege.

I would love to hear more stories from the Brits. To me, she was just like an icon. I don't know a lot about what a queen actually does although I know she had always worked hard with a smile on her face.

Thank you for writing this.

I thought of you yesterday and I went on YouTube to look for Queen Elizabeth knighting Captain Tom Moore out in the sunshine in 2020. You are the person who told me about Captain Tom. I found watching the two of them comforting. So sorry for your loss, which is much more profound then ours over here although I have rarely seen anything that brought so many people together. She has been the only Queen I was ever aware of my whole life long. Much more cherished than any politician, I'd say.

Sending hugs to all those she cared for so much, her beloved country.

Thank you so much for saying all the things I’m feeling. I remember so well the coronation mug every schoolchild received on the Queens coronation. I wish I still had it.
What an amazing lady, she worked tirelessly right until the end.

Update on Stuff

Whew! Busy week. Lots of Chocolate Emporium orders for everyone's Secret Valentines. I just want to say this community is the best. So many people have joined in with gifting other people. I can actually feel the love

I've been busy offsite this week. I haven't had as much time to dedicate to WDC as I'd hoped I would. Monday, I had a blood test. These nasty blighters always leave me unable to concentrate for the rest of the day. So, not much achieved then. Then, last night, I had my first Covid vaccination. So (naturally) I spent the whole day freaking out that I'd have an anaphylactic shock and my throat would swell up and I'd suffocate. Not that I've ever been allergic to anything, but, well, you know.

But, it didn't happen. I'm fine, and the only side effect is a bit of a sore and itchy arm. I'll take that! Anyhoo, this morning, I had to collect my prescriptions from the pharmacy, and they lost my diabetes injections, so I had to wait around while they sorted it. Then I got a phone call from the doctor's office saying something about my calcium levels are too high. She said the doctor will ring me. I don't know when. I'm not sure how serious this is. (Please, if you read this and know that it is very serious, don't tell me. It won't help.)

Now, I don't feel inclined to do anything productive for for the rest of the day. So I might just read and cuddle with my dog. That is just about my limit for today.

Tomorrow, I need to write reviews for my Chocolate Emporium, and Sunday, I need to write my poem for Promptly Poetry. It would be good if I could write some reviews the afternoon, but, I'll be honest, I'm exhausted!

So. That's me updated. I'm hoping everything turns out okay.
