"December 11-14, 2019 Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Late entry: December 11, 2019

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogsPrompt: "Have you ever bought one of those “as seen on tv” items? Was it worth it?"

I have to first apologize to my readers for entering this so late. I have been working 16 hour days for the past few weeks as this is our busiest season at the Salvation Army. I work the social services office during the day where I am a peer support/engagement specialist, and then I do angel tree and bell ringing count at night. I usually arrive at work at 8:00AM and leave at 10:00PM so I haven't had time to do much of anything.

I did buy a ring from a television ad once. It turned my finger green and I figured out quickly that it was a piece of junk. My parents allowed me to do so as a learning experience. They knew I would be cheated but figured it would teach us all a lesson. I had eight siblings who watched all of this transpire so they learned from my experience as well. We all learned that if something looks too good to be true it probably is.

Late entry December 12, 2019

If I were a Wiccan or a Pagan I may care about the last full moon of the decade, as I understand the moon phases are an intricate part of their worship. However I am a Christian so the new and full moon, or any other phase of the moon for that matter, has no bearing on me. At one time I may have gone out and howled at the full moon, but not any more. I do believe lunar gravity during the phases may have some effect on the way people feel. I know that it does me. I have bi-polar disorder and can usually feel a full moon because it messes with my mood.

[image:1997652-45%} Prompt: "When you are feeling blue, what will turn your frown upside down?"

The one thing that helps me more than anything else when I am feeling depressed is to help somebody else. I work at the Huntington WV Corps of the Salvation Army where I do peer support/engagement and other social services. I have bi-polar disorder and my moods are often like a roller coaster ride. However I have found that when I am engaged in helping somebody else, my own problems seem minimal. Try it. It works!
