"December 24, 2019 Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs "Prompt: Do you have any Christmas eve traditions? If so, what are they? If not, tell us about other traditions you have."

The only Christmas Eve tradition I ever really had was not so much Christmas Eve, but any time after Thanksgiving. It is to watch any and all versions of "Miracle on 34th Street". I love that movie. I also often watch Home Alone. My favorite character of course is Marvin, but I may be a bit partial toward him. *Bigsmile*. I happen to like people named Marvin. We are rare. Another Christmas tradition I miss is making hardrock candy. I always loved the smell of the mints permeating the house.

A new tradition for me is helping with the kettle count at the Salvation Army. From now on most nights from Thanksgiving until Christmas Eve will find me at the Salvation Army helping straighten, sort, and count the proceeds raised by our bell ringers. We have been fortunate at our Corps and have exceeded our goal. Today is the last day of bell ringing and I am going to try my hand at ringing today. The afternoon will find me in uniform, ringing for the Corps at Barboursville Wal-Mart on US Route 60 in Huntington WV. To be truthful part of the reason I have not rang bells already is because I do not like cold weather and we have had a lot of cold days. Today however will be in the 50's. If I do well at it I am certain my commander will have me ringing full time next year!
