"The Five" is much older than "The Stalker," from a time before he joined up with the artist he now uses.

As a long time Chronicstuss fan, I can’t say I remember “The Five.” The premise you describe though seems to be more along the lines of “The Stalker,” but regardless of the name I’m excited to see what you wrote!

"The Five" in question is from a long time ago, one he deleted from his account, so I can't link to it. It's my favorite chronicstuss story.

I'm not even sure I want to say anything about it because, y'know, spoilers.** So the only hint I'll offer is that it involves five high school students vacationing on an island, unaware that there's something sinister going on around them.

** My adaptation expands on the original, both with some prefatory material and also deeper dives into the characters, but is very faithful to the original, even to verbatim dialogue. So, seriously, there would be spoilers if I described the original in any but the most hand-wavy detail.

I did tone down the ... method ... by which identities are assumed, because I didn't feel like diving into some pretty grotty details over which the original webcomic glosses.

The Five? Like, the story about five tattooed guys that wear skinsuits of hot women to try to kill Saddam or something, where the tattooed guys are basically The Rock and Vin Diesel?

(Why yes, I am familiar with chronicstuss, which is why it took me by surprise. Not that I know him, but I've seen his work - specifically Simple Simon, The Cult, The Shaman, The Skinwalker, Fast Teddy, etc.)

I'll mention that since the chapters are mine, any GPs will wind up going to me but I'll be sure to pass them along to Seuzz. So if you're the type to donate in these polls they'll still be going to the right place, it'll just involve a middleman.

GPs in the Latest Poll

I forgot to say anything in the most recent poll about voting GPs; worse, rugal reminds me that you can't vote them to me with the tip form because he wrote the relevant chapters and the GPs would go to him.

So, as I describe in the updated poll, if you want to vote GPs in "Invalid Item"

, vote them through the tip form at the bottom of "Newbie Orientation"

. But be sure to tell me, in the message field, which choice you are voting them for.

Some Notes on What's Going On

So, in yesterday's entry I didn't post a direct link to Friday's poll. I didn't think I needed to. I didn't have anything to say about it that wasn't said in the poll itself; and the ToC at the top of this page links to the most recent BoM-related items anyway. For instance, if you look at it now you'll see under "Current Polls" today's date (6/8) and a link to the current poll; you'll also see under "The Latest" the date and a link to the latest chapter in "Student Bodies."

But participation was down in Friday's vote, which I put down to a lack of enthusiasm. But I also got inquiries asking which choice won on Thursday—a question that could have been answered just by looking at Friday's poll. So ... I guess at least some people didn't know where to find the poll, because they didn't know that the ToC had a link to it?

I'll try to do better about including a link to the current poll by posting it; but I'll also remind readers that the most recent poll and the most recent chapter can be found through the ToC above. (I'm usually pretty good about keeping it current.)

Anyway, those who found the poll yesterday voted to continue "Feminine Charm", so that's the topic of today's poll: "Invalid Item"

Today also brings the last of the commissioned chapters for "Student Bodies": "Acquisitions Complete"

. I was tasked with getting David to take over the Westside cheerleader squad. He was successful; I hope I was entertaining.

Tomorrow it's back to BoM, to take up the storyline you voted for at the start of the month: "The End of One Road"

Will and Sydney are forming their Brotherhood of Baphomet, and they want to get back at some of Will's persecutors indirectly.
