Change occurs when we least it expect it. I know for me seeing the world again through my children's lives helped me grow as I'm sure it did you. Thank you for sharing your personal journey.

It's no different than my four children, politics are better not mentioned.

We had a nuclear power plant in Maine, the alarms would go off and it felt like death every time it happened. My first husband worked there quite often as a machinist and there were too many incidences where he had absorbed to much radiation and would have to wear special suits and walk for hours to sweat out the excess. Sometimes it would take over a week that he and co-workers were kept in isolation rooms until they were safe. Nuclear power plants come with more risks than they tell people.
The one in Maine had to be closed and sealed because of the reactor cracking. So many families in that area had cancer afterwards, it's terrifying what lies ahead.

Maybe Australia is luckier than we are here in the USA. Mining and exporting uranium is something, but the danger of it when put to use is another. As you said, "I’ve found it’s best to not get into political discussions with anyone." Imagine me with two sons who are the exact opposites of each other in every sense of the word. I always walk on eggshells.

Though I hear there are amazing waterfalls in Australia.

I agree with SandraLynn Team Florent!

Niagara in the winter is spectacular. I went in February, we stayed at the Embassy Suites and our windows overlooked the falls. I saw it at night from the hotel and in the day did the stroll down to see it closer. The boat wasn't going when we were there. My husband wasn't thrilled about the temperatures but the sight was incredible. There's also a butterfly house not far from the falls that is so worth seeing. I couldn't believe how many butterflies surrounded us while we there.

I hope you find a way to get there, you won't be disappointed.

Oh, I agree. Crutches are not for the faint of heart. I've tripped other unsuspecting, innocent people with them. I've tumbled down stairs attempting to walk with them. They are the closest I'll ever get to stilts. "I'll pick up my sticks and shuffle." Yep, that's all you can do.

I have been lucky enough to visit Niagara Falls many times and it is always a breathtaking thrill. I've been tossed about in a boat and blessed by the spray/mist. It is really spectacular in our winter with the snow and ice as a sparkling backdrop. I'm sorry this dream has never been a reality for you.

This image reminds me of a park across the road from where I live. It’s aptly called Sculpture Park. There are many arty types of seating, such as the one in the photograph. None are made for the seater’s comfort, but are mainly conversation pieces. One is shaped like a woman and her hand as the seat. It’s called Mother’s love for some reason.
The one piece I do like in the park is a group of statues. The whole is supposed to depict a group of middle aged tourists. There are three portly, short men and two women. They stand about three or four feet tall, dressed in shorts and brightly coloured shirts, sun glasses, caps and hats. I used to take my granddaughter to this park when she was two years old and she always enjoyed the statues. She is thirty six years old now and her children climb on ‘The Tourists,’ shoulders and have their photographs taken.
Art, whether useful, beautiful or as the seat in the photo is, brutal, it certainly makes us stop and think and comment.
