It's no different than my four children, politics are better not mentioned.

We had a nuclear power plant in Maine, the alarms would go off and it felt like death every time it happened. My first husband worked there quite often as a machinist and there were too many incidences where he had absorbed to much radiation and would have to wear special suits and walk for hours to sweat out the excess. Sometimes it would take over a week that he and co-workers were kept in isolation rooms until they were safe. Nuclear power plants come with more risks than they tell people.
The one in Maine had to be closed and sealed because of the reactor cracking. So many families in that area had cancer afterwards, it's terrifying what lies ahead.

Maybe Australia is luckier than we are here in the USA. Mining and exporting uranium is something, but the danger of it when put to use is another. As you said, "I’ve found it’s best to not get into political discussions with anyone." Imagine me with two sons who are the exact opposites of each other in every sense of the word. I always walk on eggshells.

I agree with SandraLynn Team Florent!

Niagara in the winter is spectacular. I went in February, we stayed at the Embassy Suites and our windows overlooked the falls. I saw it at night from the hotel and in the day did the stroll down to see it closer. The boat wasn't going when we were there. My husband wasn't thrilled about the temperatures but the sight was incredible. There's also a butterfly house not far from the falls that is so worth seeing. I couldn't believe how many butterflies surrounded us while we there.

I hope you find a way to get there, you won't be disappointed.

Oh, I agree. Crutches are not for the faint of heart. I've tripped other unsuspecting, innocent people with them. I've tumbled down stairs attempting to walk with them. They are the closest I'll ever get to stilts. "I'll pick up my sticks and shuffle." Yep, that's all you can do.

I have been lucky enough to visit Niagara Falls many times and it is always a breathtaking thrill. I've been tossed about in a boat and blessed by the spray/mist. It is really spectacular in our winter with the snow and ice as a sparkling backdrop. I'm sorry this dream has never been a reality for you.

Nicely done!
I can see how crutches can be demons. When I had to, after foot surgery, I opted for a cane. Luckily, I healed fast.

I hate crutches, they make my armpits and shoulders both hurt. And I've almost fell down the stairs trying to navigate with them more than once.

prompt: " an old dog never learns new tricks" its a saying I've heard since I was a kid.is it a truthful thing to say? can us old dogs really not learn new tricks? or do we just not want to?

write me a story, poem or rant about it, please!

This prompt made me literally think of an old dog story. Our daughter had a puppy who we were going look after for them for a month. Now we’d had this lively little thing before and she’s what I’d call an in and out creature. No sooner was she in than she’d want to go out. I’d be up and down constantly. No rest with this dog. So when I found out we were expected to have a month of this, then we put in a dog door. However we have an old dog of our own. She’s happy to stay inside most of the time, so we’d never needed a dog door for her. So at ten years of age we tried to sell the concept of a dog door to her. She hated it, was scared of it. It led to me crawling through it myself to show her how it was done!
Along came Gigi the Labradoodle. She came with her luggage, bed and toys to stay while her mummy and daddy went on vacation.
She took to our doggy door like a duck to water and Lucy, our ten year old dog, watched on. Eventually she attempted to follow Gigi outside. She put head through first, then retreated. Next she went halfway through. Of course there’s no coming back from that, so a push on her bum saw her through. Nowadays Lucy loves her door. So you can teach an old dog new tricks.
