thanks! much appreciated! this is only a third win for me so I still find it exciting, and as you said, a feeling of worthiness! Horror is something I tend to struggle with, I prefer comedy but I like stepping out of my comfort zone! Thanks again!

I won a contest recently and yes... celebrate.

For me, every win reminds me that I'm of some worth.

Funny though when I win in genres I don't usually write in.

I can write horror poetry but story telling in the horror genre is special. Enjoy your win.

I don't run. But I do need to get out and walk more. That's natural when I'm traveling. I'm hoping to get out of here by April or May.

I find weekly objectives better. I got out last night; I got out today. If I get out for a walk tomorrow I'll have made my 5-day objective.

Daily goals are good too. Some of the month long contests here don't work for me.

Roller-coasters... I avoid all drama when possible.

I hosted parties. Preferred that to going to them. Refuse to go to birthday parties; they trigger my traumas.

I don't drink... for all the reasons you mention and more.

Strangers, good food, no alcohol, no gifts, no expectations? I may feel awkward, but I'll prolly be okay in the end.

Prompt: What was your childhood like? Did you grow up around books or was literature something you discovered on your own?

I'm not one to bring people down by talking about my childhood. Also, I grew up in a deaf household, and for those who don't know, many deaf people don't understand English, which means reading was beyond them besides what they needed to read to get by, i.e. drivers license manuals, job applications, typical road signs, etc. My love for writing showed it's face my sophomore year of high school when I wrote a poem that really impressed my English teacher. After that, I still didn't spend much time reading or writing. It wasn't until I became an adult that I started to appreciate reading. Started off with Stephen King books, but then as I kept reading, I couldn't stop thinking about the stories in my mind that I had to tell, and that led to a passion to write. I owe my ability to write to the fact that I repeated at least 3 English classes in high school.

This was my absolute favorite song to drive to at work. I used to test high speed cars (until I got laid off last week); I would time the test just right so that I'd hit 110mph right as the cop sirens came in and honk the horn in sync with the music. Made it feel like I was in a high speed chase. I miss that soooo much.

Mountains are one of the reasons I love living in California. I'm from one of the flattest parts of America, so when I look out at the landscape and see that I'm surrounded by mountains it's truly breathtaking. I like to think about the way that mountains are formed: huge forces of Earths crust mashing together and just following the course of physics, floating on a massive river or magma with nothing to inhibit or stop it from doing whatever it wants and destroying everything in its path. Gotta love mother nature and those glorious mountains.

Most of you don't know it, but I'm Prior Service Army. I had thought about being a Marine, but after my AIT (job training), I learned that most of that branch is nothing but a lot of damn chauvinist men with nothing but words that are like sulfur towards the other branches. I always thought we were on the same team, but if you're in the Army (especially in uniform) it's a battle between the crews, and once the fight is on, it becomes another edition of "The Penis Envy Review." The sad part is that once it starts, there's no way to unfix it. Tsk tsk. For shame.

I'm one of those people. I don't know if I'm entering a midlife crisis or if I'm just not happy with my life but I feel like I'm in dire need of change. Perhaps I can try to uplift myself today in reminding myself that I'm in control of my own destiny, and I've always said that if you're not happy, it's time to do something different. The only problem is, the choice I need to make would change my life in a big way and I'm not sure I'm ready for that either. So, I can either keep digging this hole that may end up being my grave or I can start building some steps to walk out of it. Either way, it's going to require some sacrifices.

I'm so pissed I can't even think straight. My stress level is off the chart.

When I get this stressed my stomach just will not unknot. I can't handle the pain, and someone stole my husband's dirt bike today. We live in a pretty remote area, so the fact that they came out all this way says they've probably been scoping the place. I can't help but feel like I'm being watched all the time now.

I make so many things it's not even funny! I'm not sure that I know anything so in depth I could explain at a professional level.
Really, I'm no expert. If anything, I'm a jack of all trades but a master of none.
Here's some tips on candle making-

1. Soy wax is great, but for a good scent throw it's best to mix it with paraffin wax, since it burns hotter, it will burn the oil in the wax hotter.

2. Don't let the wax get past 185 degrees, however some waxes may require less heat.

3.The scent oil should be added when the wax gets to the max temp, since it has to bind. Not too much, though. I will overwhelm the wax and it won't burn right.

4. Jars are best as well as zinc-core wicks. (Don't want no limp wicks!)

If you think about it, everything in the house has a story. Even if you just bought it or somebody gave it to you....

For example, our tv is the oldest electronic in the house, and even though the technology on it is outdated, it's still worth keeping around because it has 3D capabilities, and we got a sweet deal on it since we bought it on Black Friday. It's like a member of the family, now!
