I love that mysterious Big Foot Yeah, he's a pretty nice guy But a bit mischievous at nightfall See, he's also very timid and shy He visited me while out camping Standing silent in shadows unseen Just waiting for me to walk off So he could pilfer hotdogs and beans! Written for "EXPRESS IT IN EIGHT" ; TOPIC: WRITE A GRAY POEM. Today when I opened the door The green grass I saw no more Buried beneath the snowy white Winter arrived during the night The air is cold, the wind is chill I hear it through my window sill Low clouds turn the sky dark gray Another cold, wet, dreary day! Written for "EXPRESS IT IN EIGHT" ; TOPIC: WRITE A WRAPPED-UP POEM. A bitter cold at the end of the day Brisk north winds make pine trees sway The blowing snow forms drifts and dunes Transforming landscapes into barren ruins The fireplace flames flicker and dance Soothing me with their hypnotic trance Wrapped in blankets by the warm firelight Writing verse or prose deep into the night A proud member of "WdC SuperPower Reviewers Group" "Reading soothes the soul, writing sets it free." Written for "EXPRESS IT IN EIGHT" ; TOPIC: The Longest Day Worry and anxiety fill my heart Slowing time, prolonging my day. Sleepless night, the voices start, "What will happen, what will they say?" Morning arrives in fearful dread. Coffee's upsetting, I cannot eat. Pacing the floors, throbbing head, Only to learn it was all just deceit! Written for "EXPRESS IT IN EIGHT" ; TOPIC: CLAMOR. I had just sat down at my desk to start writing When all of a sudden the dogs began fighting. They knocked something over and made such a clamor I jumped from my desk and yelled out, "Tod Gammer!" I ran to the kitchen and stepped on a bone Landed hard on my butt and broke my cell phone! The dogs came a runnin' as if in a race, and Before I could get up, were licking my face. A proud member of "WdC SuperPower Reviewers Group" "Reading soothes the soul, writing sets it free." T.J. |

Written for "EXPRESS IT IN EIGHT" ; TOPIC: WRITE A POEM ABOUT ISOLATION. All alone no one around, A single tree on the ground. Standing alone against the storm. Refusing change, won't conform. Reaching upward seeking the light. Standing fast through the darkest night. That lone ole' tree is a beautiful site. I admire its beauty and respect its might. Written for "EXPRESS IT IN EIGHT" ; TOPIC: Meant * Except I meant to spend some time today. But time has a habit of slipping away. I’ll do it tomorrow if it works out that way. Maybe next week when I have a free day. My procrastination is never fun. It stops me from finishing what I’ve begun. I tend to say to myself, “I’ll get back to this one.” Except, I already know it will never get done. Topic: WRITE A FLICKER POEM The sun has now hidden behind the trees. Leaves are whispering in the slight breeze. Down by the river, I hear a frog croak, As darkness enfolds the land in its cloak. Engulfed in the halo cast by the fire, Admiring the song of cricket’s night choir. The flickering flames dance to their tones While chasing the cold and damp from my bones. The Tree I came upon an ancient tree, That whispered out its secret to me. "One key will unlock your every desire. While the others unlock the gates to hell’s fire. Pick the right one, you’re wishes come true, But choose the wrong one, it’s the end for you!" The temptation was great as I looked at the keys. But not great enough to risk my soul in Hades! I had a friend who was feeling down So I wrote a poem about a clown. I wanted to cheer her, make her smile; To brighten her mood for a little while But to my dismay, she started to frown, She said she was terrified by the clown. I intended to cheer her, to make her glad But instead, I wrote a poem that was bad. A proud member of "WdC SuperPower Reviewers Group" "Reading soothes the soul, writing sets it free." T.J. |
Once upon a time, his true love was found, Love, joy, and happiness would forever abound. For a while love flourished, life was grand; They took on the world, hand in hand. But a time came when she was not there, She had found another young and more fair. His heart was broken, his world was shattered, He became miserable, lonesome, and tattered.
