L'aura del campo

'é a lua, é a lua, na quintana dos mortos'
♣ Federico García Lorca ♣

Higgins Street Bridge, April 25th 2009, Missoula, Montana

L'aura del campo. A breeze in the meadow. So it began the last day of Spring, 2005; on the 16th day of the month of Light of the year 162. This is a supplement to my daily journal written to a friend, my muse; notes I do not share. Here I will share what the breeze has whispered to me.

Christening

Listen to the sparrows chirping for food.
They have babies to feed. Who will feed them?
Their vision focuses on kindness and crumbs.
Hear their pleas. — Don't ignore them.

I live off the crumbs that others leave,
if not for me then for someone in need.
Tears glisten. I've been seen. I've been seen!
The kindness of strangers awes me.

Hale and Healthy in Hell

Hale! Hale! Yoga class begins.
Are you really sure? —
Yes, I'm really sure! —
Then surely I must be dead.

View from the bridge

They cavort y'know:
the swans, the geese, the ducks —
especially the ducks.
They wait until we turn the other way
then continue making —
ducks.

Then beavers glide up channels
to gather leaves at the base of half-gnawed trees
where eddies swirl.

And we? We watch the swallows swoop,
then cross the bridge to drown our sorrows.
Those of us afraid to swim,
unable to fly.
