Writer's Fallout Shelter

Editing and revising are the writers' banes. In order to really get the best out of your work, you will go through it so many times that you'll get sick of the words. There's a saying that you're never done editing your work.

That's why a lot of people in creative writing classes throughout high school will tell you to let the story sit before you head into the revising stage. Having the words still fresh in your mind hinders your ability to look at your own story as if you were a third party. But to answer your question, yes, it is the norm. It's the hard part about being a writer. Especially when you notice something early on that effects the entire thing and you have to re-write everything.... Then it really isn't fun...
