No, it doesn't have to be set during the championship... there just needs to be some kind of ultimate prize so that the old pro has a distinct set of accomplishments. If you were to use, oh, say tennis for example *Wink*, it wouldn't have to take place during a Grand Slam, but the old pro should have some success at winning Grand Slams (to establish the fact that they're an accomplished old pro). *Bigsmile* As opposed to, say, jogging, where there's no real measurement of a person's success or failure.

In other words, the old pro should have won plenty of championships, although he or she doesn't necessarily have to be playing in one for your story. *Smile*
