I have been in this situation on every story I have written. It comes down to whether you trust your subconscious to have got the plot right. I find that when I eventually work out the plot my subconscious has created, I can work out how to smoothe out the ragged edges in the dialogue and plot. I have learned to trust my subconscous and it has paid off in some strange, wierd plots.
