The best way to get into a conversation about writing, your own and that of others is to read and review and item that is of the same genre or type that you write in. For one, you'll see how others approach the subject and maybe get some ideas for your own. By sending a review, you also heighten your chance at getting a review in return. You may even put the link to your item you'd like feedback on in your review. Nobody is required to review your work, but it's easier for others to see your work if you go and show them that you're there.
Writing.Com is a great site. I saw you ask about that a couple of times in your post. As in all places where people are involved, you have to make sure to put a little something into the pot (reviews) to get some back.
