Hey Foxface! Getting people to fall in love with your characters is actually pretty simple if you know how. Mostly the thing is to make them relatable. If you can read about the character and think that in their situation you would do the same thing, then you feel sympathy for them and usually end up liking them. Give them an interesting backstory! Even if the characters a jerk the readers might still like them if they have a tragic and/or emotional scarring backstory. A good example for me is Snape from Harry Potter. It's also a good example because he dies. Poor Snape. :(
And if your character is nice that'll only help more. But they have to have depth as well. If your character seems real its easier to get attached to them, and like them. So it pretty much boils down to character development. Make your character real and relatable and people will end up liking them.
