Diabetes is a widespread disease, but can be controlled. Lets help each other beat it! |
Hello ruwth, I can't stress enough that you get under a Doctor's care. Learn to eat 5 times per day. Green beans, carrots and cinnamon are known to improve blood sugar control. Keep raw, cut up vegetables handy in the fridge to snack on. Drink your 8 glasses of water with a few drops of lemon per day. Lemon is a natural diuretic. Cucumbers help with leg swelling. Eat only whole fruit, no juices. Try keeping a container in the fridge with cut-up melon. This is for sweet cravings. You may eat turnips but not potatoes. Do not eat pasta. I strongly recommend you switch from dairy milk to coconut/soy blend. Your meals should have about 40 grams of carbs per meal. Your snacks should be under 10 grams of carbs, between meals. Do not eat processed meats. They exacerbate leg swelling. Take a daily multivitamin and a fish oil supplement. Get a clear fiber supplement that stirs into your drinks and has no flavor. You should be consuming 45 grams of fiber per day. Put a large note on the wall in every room to remind you to take your meds and EAT! Get off the roller coaster of high/low blood sugars and remember that you are important to someone. Every journey starts with one small step. Do what you can and soon, you can do more because you did. Every day, walk a little further than yesterday. You will get there. I have Faith in you. |
