About This Newsletter

I am a spiritually inspired NANOWRIMO rebel. The title of my NANOWRIMO book is Letters From My Soul. I am using my blog, "I Blog Poetry and Prose, to plan the book, because I haven't decided whether I'm going to join "October Novel Prep Challenge. Since my book isn't a novel, I'm not sure--at this time--how to use the assignments to plan the book.

Letter from the editor

Have you considered writing a spiritual novel for NANOWRIMO? Do you want to share your spiritual path with the world? Have you had a spiritual experience you want to write about? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, you need to consider participating in the "October Novel Prep Challenge next month and in NANOWRIMO in in November. Even if your book is a memoir or some other nonfiction book, you can still participate in NANOWRIMO as a NANOWRIMO rebel.

Since I'm writing a spiritual book, I'm approaching the planning from a spiritual point of view. To me, this means prayers and meditation about the book. I decided to choose five individuals from my spiritual path toe write letters to. I may increase this number to ten as I continue to plan and November draws closer. Each individual is important to my path, and in some way--even though they have ascended into the spiritual realm--have encouraged me along that path.

Planning a novel of any kind is much easier than planning a nonfiction book, because with a novel you can start out with "What if" and move forward from there. A nonfiction book doesn't start out with "What if", so I have to begin with a premise or a theme. I also have to do some research on dates that I want to include in the letters or in any footnotes I include. Some of my research will include reading the sacred scriptures for ideas about each of the letters.

Are you going to write a spiritual or religious novel for NANOWRIMO? Are you going to be a NANOWRIMO rebel and write a nonfiction book with a spiritual or religious theme? Let me know.

Ask & Answer

LegendaryMask❤️ writes: Great topic for the newsletter this week. Face masks have been the topic everywhere, but you summoned it up very nicely. It is exactly how I feel about the subject and if everyone took the same approach it would be less stressful. And for those who have health risks wearing them, I pray that they find relief in knowing that I totally feel for them. May our faith and knowledge that God has this get us through this season.

BIG BAD WOLF is hopping writes: I have a rather simple, yet smart, trick for dealing with the whole mask thing, especially when wearing it for over half an hour - tic-tacs or some other breath-mint. That and water. Useful when playing D&D.

Quick-Quill writes: Sorry I hate wearing a mask. I hate putting stuff over my face. I don’t believe this is anything but gov control. In all your years when we’ve had other flu epidemics we weren’t forced to wear masks. This isn’t any worse than they were. It’s only a Psndemic because someone tells you it is. More people have died from the H1N1 and bird flu than this one. I only wear when I am fixed to go into a store. When you go to a restaurant you have to wear it in then take it off. It’s all so stupid and people are falling in like sheep. This is nothing more than getting people ready for the Antichrist rule. Get used to it it will only get worse

Sophy writes: Totally agree about mask-wearing - we do it to protect others as much or more than to protect ourselves. I wear one anytime I am out in public as well, which isn't often these days since so many around me are not wearing one.

Your words remind me of an ancient Arab phrase attributed to the prophet Mohammed - "Trust in God, but tie your camel." The story goes that one day Mohammed saw a Bedouin leaving his camel without tethering it, and questioned him as to why he was doing this. The Bedouin replied that he was placing his trust in Allah and had no need to tie the camel. The prophet Mohammed then replied, “Tie your camel and place your trust in Allah.”

Jimminycritic writes: Great thoughts on wearing a mask. For me, the issue of wearing a mask only makes it obvious that we, as a people, are not going to get along and that is okay, I think. Personally, I wish people would wear a mask without making an issue of it, but that isn't going to happen until things get much worse. I hope much worse doesn't ever happen, but I am going to not make an issue of other peoples choices. How many people still smoke? Think they want me to tell them they can't?

Mia - craving colour writes: Hi Prosperous Snow,

I’m in agreement with your perception. I”m reminded of the story of a man sitting on a rooftop, the area around him flooded. He asks God to help him. He turns down a ride to safety from a boat, and a helicopter, telling them he’s waiting for God to help him. Of course, when he asks God why he didn’t help, God points out all the earth angels he sent his way.

While ‘God’ may orchestrate the seemingly impossible in our lives, it is up to us to take the practical steps in our role of co-creating. Yes, trust in God and wear the mask. *Smile* Since it’s for the protection of others, it would be selfish not to.

PastorJuan writes: I wholeheartedly agree with you. My expression of my freedom to take the precautionary steps to obey the instructions of those in authority unless it violates my Christian principles. Wearing a mask keeps me from "sharing" some illness, or "spreading COVID" with others. If they choose to wear a mask, then they would care about not sharing their germs with me when they cough and so forth. I love the Lord, and trust that whatever happens, I will be under His protection from anything that He deems should not happen, and, on the other hand, whatever He believes should happen to me will. I trust that God has my best interest in mind. In the meantime, I will wear a mask, and I will wear those plastic gloves at times If I feel they are necessary. That is my expression of my freedom, and I won't let the opinion of anyone else change that.
