It's the start of a new year. For many of us, it feels like a clean sheet to be filled with whatever we want to happen in our lives over the next twelve months. We make plans, we set goals... but then, all too often, doubt sets in.
This week's Spiritual Newsletter is about positivity. I hope it will encourage you to make whatever you want to happen, happen.

First of all, of course, I’d like to wish all of you a very Happy New Year! So, Happy New Year!  I hope that 2011 will bring you everything you hope for.
It would be all too easy to write a Newsletter about New Year’s resolutions… wouldn’t it? It’s sort of what is expected, I guess, with this being the first Spiritual Newsletter of the year. I’ve made some resolutions, or rather, set myself some goals for the upcoming year, and I sure hope that I can fulfill these goals before I wish you a happy 2012.
Instead of writing about resolutions, I’d like to write about positivity. The reason is that whilst many of us set ourselves goals and targets for the year, it’s human nature to not have much faith that we can actually succeed. We laugh about our own resolutions, expect to stick to them for a while, but it’s okay if we fail because so many of us do, in a couple of weeks or a couple of months’ time. We hope that we’ll succeed, but even when we make our resolutions, that tiny bit of doubts sneaks in and makes itself known.
Negative thoughts are common. Sometimes we don’t even recognize them for what they are. It’s like we’ve been conditioned to expect the worst. I know that’s true in my case – I’ve been raised to prepare myself for failure, and unpleasant outcomes, so that if something good does happen, it’s a pleasant surprise. That way of thinking used to make sense to me but now I think that it’s not that helpful. I should expect better outcomes.
I should expect things to be better in general. Right before Christmas, I mentioned to my partner how nice it would be to check the news on Christmas day and have the majority of articles be positive and pleasant and fluffy for once. Just for one day, it would have been nice to read stories to make us smile, instead of icky stuff. It’s as though to be news, something has to be bad and unpleasant. If there are any nice stories, they’re usually added as an afterthought.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to wake up one morning and find that the news for the day is that there’s an end to war and conflict? That all countries have decided to work together and create a better world for all creatures great and small? That poverty and hunger have been solved, cures to all ailments have been found and are available to everyone who needs it? That there’s a way to clean oceans and land and air from any and all pollution and that unlimited, clean power has been discovered?
Yes, I know, dream on… Still, there have to be stories out there about the good in the world, more stories than we read about now. Kindness instead of cruelty, optimism instead of negativity, selfless deeds instead of selfish ones, stories that make us smile instead of causing worry and concern.
Which made me think, if I want a better world, why shouldn’t I try to be the change I want to see? I’m not bigheaded enough to assume I can change the world on my own, but you’ve got to start somewhere, right? It’s all too easy to sit here and write about how I want everything to be, and then leave it to everyone else to make it so. If I want a world that’s positive, I’ve got to be positive instead of always assuming the worst and then nod and frown and sigh when I see that I’m right and things are bad. If the world is a dark place, it’s up to us to be that tiny spark of light in the darkness. Yes, that may sound preachy and idealistic and tree-huggerish of me, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t true.
So, if you did make some resolutions for the New Year, or set some goals and targets, I will tell you here and now that you can succeed. Don’t allow doubt to dissuade you from your dreams. Let this year be the one to create happy stories for all of us to read. Good luck!

manyobz - yes we all have good and bad side it just depend on you,which side do you want to showcase,and our bad side have more bad consequences.so when you chose chose your side make sure it wont back fire back at you.
